Org. Setting and Reporting
The post is located in the Geneva Office of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund

Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Chief of UNJSPF Geneva Office the incumbent is responsible for:

1) Executing, monitoring and following-up the Payments, Accounts, and Beneficiaries services functions in relation to activities assigned to the Geneva Office of the Fund, in charge of Europe, Africa and Middle East. Monitoring monthly Pension Payroll (timely and completeness of execution , stop payments, recovery of overpayments, change of banking instruction, delays and bank charges issues. Interact daily with the Fund’s beneficiaries banks), processing daily and miscellaneous payments (using banking interfaces, carrying out related accounting, research and reconciliation actions, identifying most effective ways and means of payment depending on destination, currencies or international banking constraints, etc. ). Replying directly to beneficiaries telephone and e-mail enquiries in relation to all aspects of the payment of their benefits. Writing all outgoing mail related to the activities of the post.

2) Assisting the Chief of Office in the Fund’s “Business continuity” project, identifying non redundant functions and tasks between New York and Geneva offices, formulating recommendations on ways and means of securing continuity of services in all circumstances.

3) Monitors visits and analyses section’s key performance indicators. Formulates recommendations to face growing workload and improve/streamline procedures.

 4) Undertaking special assignments at the request of the Chief of Office, especially in relation to creation of a procedural environment related to the Section functions and monitoring of its activity, as well as ad-hoc tasks.

Education:
Advanced University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or directly related field. A first level University degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and significant experience may be accepted.
Work Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible Professional experience working with complex accounting operations at the National/International level with minimum two years at International level. Some experience in the area of Payroll and Banking activities using sophisticated and diverse computerized environments highly desirable.
Languages:
English and French are working languages of the United Nations. For this post, fluency in oral and written English and French, with excellent verbal skills and sound drafting ability, is required. Dealing with over 30,000 beneficiaries located primarily in Europe, Africa and Middle East makes it a must to be entirely versatile in these 2 languages. Some knowledge of other languages is desirable.

Assessment Method:
Eligible candidates may be requested to undergo written knowledge-based assessment exercises, which may be followed by a competency-based interview depending on the result of the test.
